What we do on the Fox River.

Seven jobs, one crew. The first three are most of the work. The rest get done on the same ticket as a roof or on their own.

Ask about one of these
  • Roof replacementTear-off to the deck, ice and water shield at the eaves and valleys, synthetic underlayment, then Owens Corning Duration or GAF Timberline HDZ. A single-family house is usually closed up in one day.
  • Roof repairLifted shingles, a cracked pipe boot, step flashing that let go at the chimney. Fixed the same week we see it, with the patch matched to the roof you have.
  • Storm repairAfter hail or wind the crew tarps the open spots first, photographs every slope, and puts the repair in writing. Nobody goes on your roof until you say so.
  • Gutters and downspouts5-inch and 6-inch seamless aluminum, run on the truck in your driveway and hung the same day as the roof.
  • Soffit and fasciaAluminum wrap over rotted wood, vented where the attic needs intake.
  • SkylightsVelux deck-mounted units, flashed with the kit, not caulk.
  • Flat roofs on garages and additionsModified bitumen or TPO on detached garages, porches and small flat sections.
Fox River Roofing crew lead on a roof checking the day's plan on a tablet

Started in 2011 with one truck and a borrowed ladder rack.

Dana spent nine years on other people's crews in Elgin and Aurora before starting Fox River Roofing out of a rented bay on Route 64. The shop is still there. The crew is eleven roofers on two trucks, and most of them have been on it more than five years.

I walk every roof myself before anyone prices it, and I do not set the ladder until you say so. The number on the paper is the number you heard on the phone.

What the neighbors say.

★★★★★

Dana walked the roof with my husband before anybody quoted a number, sent the estimate two days later, and the crew had the tear-off and the new roof done by four. They ran the magnet over the lawn twice.

Two other companies told us the leak at the chimney meant a whole new roof. Fox River re-flashed it for a few hundred dollars and told us the shingles had five more years in them.

After the June wind they tarped us the same evening and photographed everything before anyone touched it. The repair bill matched the written estimate to the dollar.

Questions people ask us.

Do you need to get on my roof to give me a price?
Yes, and only with your permission. Dana asks before setting the ladder, photographs every slope, and shows you the photos before leaving. If you would rather nobody went up, the estimate is measured from the ground and the photos, and it says so.
How fast is the written estimate?
Within three business days of the roof walk, by email, itemized line by line. If you need it sooner for a closing, say so on the call.
What happens after a storm?
Call us. If water is coming in, a crew comes out the same day or the next morning to tarp the open spots. We photograph the damage, write up the repair, and give you the photos and the estimate to use however you need to. Nobody goes on the roof until you say so.
How long does a re-roof take?
A single-family house with one layer of shingles takes one day with the full crew. Two layers, a steep pitch or a lot of dormers can push it to two. You hear which before we start, and the roof is never left open overnight.
What does the license number on this page mean?
Illinois requires anyone roofing for pay to hold a state roofing contractor license. The Residential class covers houses and small residential buildings. Our number is 104.000000, a demo number on this sample site. A real one can be checked on the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation license lookup.
